|Attend an Upcoming Webinar: "Instructor Training for LockDown Browser & Respondus Monitor"|
This comprehensive training webinar is intended for instructors who plan to use LockDown Browser and/or Respondus Monitor with online/proctored exams. The session will include coverage of the new automated flagging system within Respondus Monitor. The webinar is 45 minutes, plus a Q&A period at the end.
Respondus Monitor is a companion product for LockDown Browser that offers students the ability to take an online exam at any time and at a location of their choosing with the test session being recorded for later review by faculty. Monitor serves as an alternative to live proctoring, while still helping to protect the integrity of online exams at NTCC.
Cost to students for Monitor use is $10 per student per course, which covers as many exams as are required in that course. Payment for Respondus Monitor is made during the set-up process when starting a Respondus Monitor enabled quiz. Instructors deciding to require Monitor use may wish to review the sample syllabus text available from Respondus.
Respondus Monitor is a webcam feature for LockDown Browser that records students during online, non-proctored quizzes. When this feature is enabled for a quiz, students are required to use a webcam and microphone with LockDown Browser. After the quiz is completed, an instructor can review details of the assesment, even the recorded videos.
- Instructor Quick Start Guides
- Information to add to your syllabus
The sample syllabus can be used in your course to explain that students must use LockDown Browser and a webcam (Respondus Monitor) for their online tests.
- LockDown Browser Installer (Student Edition) - Only used by students who are taking an Online Course! Also, located on the E-Learning>For Student>LockDown Brower & Monitor page.
HINT: Start with a practice exam.
Ensure your first exam using Respondus Monitor runs smoothly! Have students take an ungraded practice quiz that requires the use of LockDown Browser and a webcam (Respondus Monitor), before taking a graded exam.
Leave the practice quiz available for the duration of the course, with unlimited attempts, so students can check their setup from a different computer.
